333 Islands, One Singular Destination
In Fiji, rainforest meets reef, with some of the world's best snorkeling and scuba diving. Walk among lush canopies of orchids, immerse yourself in local culture, and enjoy tranquil beaches at intimate resorts where sailing and sunsets inspire a connection with each other and the Earth.
Welcome to the jungle
Taveuni is known as Fiji’s Garden Island, thanks to its colorful plant life in places like Bouma National Heritage Park. Wind through a labyrinth of flowers and jungle roots before you hear the rushing waters of the Tavoro waterfalls and their natural pools. Take a break from hiking and enjoy a refreshing dip.
Sacred sights
Sri Siva Subramaniya is the largest Hindu temple in the Pacific, but its superlatives don’t stop there. Architecture scholars praise the master craftsmanship and vibrant colors of the intricately carved deities throughout three temple buildings. Look up to see frescoes just as riotously bright as the exterior.
See the Great White Wall
The Great White Wall on the Rainbow Reef is one of the most coveted scuba sites in the world—but what makes it so beautiful is also one of the reasons why it’s recommended only for experienced divers. A tricky vertical swim through teeming fish brings marine enthusiasts to a vertical wall that “glows” white with soft corals a few times a month.
Swim with sharks
Enjoy the thrill of a heart-pounding dive in Pacific Harbour, where you can spot up to eight species of finned predators—including the bull shark, whose largest concentration in the world is at Shark Reef Marine Reserve. An experienced guide will lead your exploration of pristine waters full of multitudes of turtles, fish, and rainbows of corals.
Rays of light
The Blue Lagoon was shot along Fiji’s northwest coast in the Yasawa Islands, where manta rays frequent the natural channel seasonally. The gentle giants, which have wingspans of up to 20 feet and often get close enough for epic underwater photography, delight snorkelers and divers alike.
Enjoy botanic bliss
In the Garden of the Sleeping Giant, thousands of vibrant orchids line a boardwalk that winds past a lily pond and through a 49-acre rainforest. The name comes from the legend of a dozing giant who ate so much that he fell into a deep slumber at the top of the lush Nausori Highlands and became petrified, permanently overlooking the valley.
Worth its salt
Fed by the surrounding ocean, Salt Lake changes direction with the tides. The virtually untouched, buoyant body of water is ideal for a tranquil kayaking tour. Float past towering mangroves, their jumble of roots woven together as tightly as the stories you’ll hear from your guide about the birds and fish you’ll spot along the way toward the heart of one of Fiji’s most pristine ecosystems.
Island-Hop
For the ultimate off-grid experience, take a day trip to Monuriki Island, one of the few places on the planet where you can spot the rare Fiji crested iguana. Snorkel and sunbathe on the white-sand beach of this sparsely populated island with a setting that may look familiar as the filming location of Cast Away.
Ride the rails
Expect an adventure by land along the coast on an Ecotrax tour aboard a “velocipede” electric bicycle carriage mounted on the old sugarcane railway. The electric function means you can pedal or simply sit back and admire river crossings, mangroves, rainforests, the open coastline, and villages before arriving at the unspoiled Vunabaka Beach for a swim.
Make waves
At Cloud 9 Floating Bar, a two-story gourmet pizza spot with an expansive sundeck and views to match, it's all about the ocean—and sound waves. Kick back and swim in clear, turquoise waters to live DJ music.
Channel your inner caveman
Sand and serenity await at one of many resorts hugging the Yasawa Islands’ powdery coastline. From there, it’s easy to adventure to nearby underwater Sawa-i-Lau Caves, where sunlight dapples the limestone cavities and makes the waters glow.
Float your boat
Get the best of both worlds with culture and adventure on a Sigatoka River Safari. Aboard a custom-built jet boat, you’ll traverse the longest river of Fiji’s main island en route to a traditional village. Once there, feast on lunch and take part in a kava ceremony with the chief, sampling yaqona, Fiji’s most traditional beverage.
